quote of the day: ted koppel

“I was struck by how his chipmunk cheeks and odd-parted hair lent him an uncanny resemblance to Alfred E. Neuman.”

- The late Roone Arledge, former ABC News president, on Ted Koppel, in his forthcoming memoir, Roone.

I have this theory that the flesh-and-blood Ted Koppel is actually locked in an underground room at the Pentagon. His legs are strapped to a wooden chair (which he’s managed to drag over to a corner of the room) and he’s beating feebly on the padded wall with his fists, croaking, “Let me out! Let me out!”

The Ted Koppel we see on TV is an automaton.
