Salon's Heather Havrilesky has a fun assessment of the MTV show Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica, particularly glorying in the couple's constant bickering. ("Can this marriage be saved?" - 09/09/03) According to the reviewer, Simpson comes off like the spoiled, "me-me-me" princess suddenly thrust into the "real world" of cooking and laundry. Lachkey, who is quite capable of doing his own laundry and even moving furniture, comes off a bit better.

Simpson: "Whoa, you stink."

Lachey: "Baja Fresh is just ... too much onion."

Simpson: "You know you can get it without onions. Always ask to do that. You know you'll get more kisses."

Lachey: "I'm not gonna blow a good meal for a kiss!"

On a side note, MTV.com's URL for the show -- http://www.mtv.com/onair/newlyweds/nick_and_jessica/ -- hints that this probably won't be the channel's only attempt to do a reality show about celebrity newlyweds. I wonder if they're planning a reality show about celebrity divorces, too.
