cheap seats

My redesign of azcentral.com’s “Cheap Seats” section just went live. “Cheap Seats” focuses more on the gossip, scandal and silliness of the sports world, and offers the sports editors a chance to have some fun with their writing and story decisions.

The design was a bit of a challenge for me. As with many of the special sections I’ve done for the site, I was told to design a site that looked like azcentral.com, yet has its own distinctive look and feel — not to mention the need for the new site design to be easily updatable. This design, in its initial incarnation, was inspired in large part by the bold colors of ESPN’s Page 2 — itself a big inspiration for the overall “Cheap Seats” section.
