After much procrastination, I finally scheduled an appointment with an optometrist yesterday evening. An hour and a half later, I left the mall with a brand-new pair of glasses.
Looking for a way to aleve my computer-induced headaches, I bought my first pair of glasses about four years ago. I wore them fairly faithfully up until my move to D.C., but abandoned them when my office assigned me a laptop and flatscreen monitor — far less eyestrain-inducing equipment. I have a similar computer set-up at my present job, but the sheer quantity of time I spend in front of a computer during the day — 8 hours at work, then probably 2-5 at home, depending on how much freelance work I have that evening — have brought headaches anew.
So I splurged on the frames, deciding that the rectangular, dark brown metal-rimmed glasses were more fun than the cheaper but more staid rounded frames. After one day in use, I’m still liking them. And there haven’t been any headaches today — always a good thing.
