superfriendsTPS: This Place Sucks: It’s Office Space, starring the Super Friends.

Speaking of the Super Friends, I’ve been getting a kick out of the Adult Swim show Harvey Birdman: Attorney at Law on the Cartoon Network, which consists of utterly warped (and sometimes utterly brilliant) 15-minute tweaks on cartoon classics, such as Fred Flintstone-as-Tony Soprano or a Johnny Quest custody battle. I re-watched one of my favorites this weekend, involving Apache Chief (a second-string Super Friend, pictured above) getting burned by hot coffee and losing his super powers.

An article on Salon.com has an interesting take on Birdman: “…pretend we’re witnessing a bizarre discourse on popular culture, fictional systems (including their explosion) and psychosexual norms.” (“Pillaging the Cartoon Universe” - 05/29/03)
