Today’s two strange quotes of the day, strangely enough, both have to do with drugs, and the misuse thereof…

Seen at Salon.com (The Fix - 05/18/05):

Ron Wood on the Rolling Stones’ most “Spinal Tap” moment: “We were doing drugs in the dressing room [at a concert in the early ’80s]. Suddenly the tour manager stuck his head around the door and said, ‘The police are here!’ We all panicked and threw our drugs in the toilet. Then Sting, Andy Summers and Stewart Copeland walked in.” (Guitar World magazine via Rush & Molloy)

And in a story from today’s Washington Post about the local black squirrel population (“An Exotic Evolution” - 05/19/05):

Flyger devoted himself to studying squirrels because, as he explains it, they weigh less than a deer and don’t bite like a polar bear. He used to smear a tree behind his Silver Spring home with a mixture of peanut butter and Valium and then tattoo the squirrels that he found passed out below.
