new shooz

After getting one blister too many walking around Clarendon on Saturday night (wearing EasySpirit slides that I’d bought last summer in the vain hope that they’d be stylish-yet-comfy), I finally caved and marched over to Comfort One to plunk down some serious cash for real “tromp all over town in comfort” shoes. The salesgirl was really helpful. Once I explained what I wanted, she dashed to the back room, saying confidently, “I know exactly what you need.” I think she was on the right track.

The result: A pair of Naol sandals that are a little short on style, but should be long on practicality, once I break them in. (The cork insoles are supposed to mold to my feet.) Features, according to the Comfort One site:

  • Natural arch and cushion support.
  • Durable cork/latex composite insole.
  • EVA rubber soles are made to last.
  • Slightly raised toe bar grips your toes comfortably.
  • Molded heel cups and arches absorb shock and straighten your posture.

Here’s hoping. It’s been driving me mad that even my “comfy” shoes — even the sneakers — sometimes give me blisters. I really want a pair of shoes that I can slip on and wear for hours upon hours and not have to worry about whether my feet will be killing me by day’s end.
