new digs
Catching up on my TV, I watched Monday’s edition of The Daily Show last night. The show went on a brief hiatus last week in order to move to a new studio; Monday was the first taping on the new set. And I have to say, I’m not digging it. It just feels … cold … And when Jon Stewart’s delivering the “news,” the “subtle” animated graphics on the screen behind him make it look like the program title is exploding out of his ears every few seconds. (I haven’t watched last night’s show yet; maybe they’ve made some adjustments.)
Slate TV critic Dana Stevens’s less-than-enthused commentary on the new set pretty much sums up what’s not working. (“Talk Show Feng Shui” - 07/12/05)

Washington Post’s Express posted a quote from this entry in their Blog Log today (7/14)! “when Jon Stewart’s delivering the “news,” the “subtle” animated graphics on the screen behind him make it look like the program title is exploding out of his ears every few seconds”
I saw it when I was reading on Metro this morning and realized it was yours and yelped out loud :D
