the moon is made of...

To commemorate the anniversary of first manned moon landing — Apollo 11, on June 20, 1969 — Google has made a small “moon” version of its Google Maps application: Google Moon. The landing spots of six Apollo missions are plotted on NASA imagery of the lunar surface.

For extra fun, try zooming in all the way.

Earlier this morning, someone posted to the GeoTagging group on Flickr wondering (jokingly) how long it would take for someone to figure out how to add lunar geotagging.

(Thanks to Shawn for the tip.)
