diamond shopping

Diamond finderAmazon has launched a very visual approach to buying diamonds, with an AJAX-powered application that allows users to narrow or expand their search selections via a series of sliders and instantly (without reloading the page) see how many diamonds match their criteria.

It’s an interesting approach to search, and I wonder how it might be applied to other kinds of searches, beyond shopping.

(Thanks to Paul for the link.)

I’m a little dissapointed to see that there seemed to be no mention of conflict-free diamonds. (Although I didn’t delve that deeply into the site.) I know it’s hard to know for sure that one is actually purchasing a conflict-free diamond, but if I’m ever in the market for a diamond, I plan to do everything I can to ensure that the one I buy is CF.

I couldn’t find any “conflict-free” references in Amazon’s explainers, either. I agree with you: Should I be in the market for a diamond, I’d rather my money not support brutally exploitive regimes and the like.
