taking stock
So we finally got (almost) everything moved last night, with some early help from Doug and an eleventh-hour rescue from Dari. Now, sitting in a living room piled high with boxes that were such a pain to move, I’m thinking about what a pain it’s going to be to unpack.
I’m starting small, tackling one small area at a time. First: the cable installation, because I can only poach off neighboring wifi connections for so long.
Next: Clothes. Before this Grand Journey started, I set aside a few days’ worth of clothes in my backpack. Now, that supply dwindling, I need to figure out where my socks, underwear and t-shirts are. I think once that’s sorted out, I’ll feel a lot better, and more up to tackling my next “area” — maybe the kitchen, once I get some shelf liner.
Then there’s the merging and the purging.
Between us, we have a good number of duplicates: televisions, home theatre systems, movies and music, household items, etc. Now we have to decide what stays and what goes (or at least goes into storage). Look for an extensive listing of stuff for sale on craigslist sometime soonish, as soon as we’ve taken inventory and decided what to keep and what to chuck.
