breakfast for lunch

I had to stop at the post office this morning before work and figured it was the perfect opportunity to check out the new breakfast offerings at the California Tortilla down the street. I was actually looking forward to it: A breakfast burrito sounds so appetizing, particularly compared to, say, a Cosi muffin.

So I mailed off my parcels and, already salivating over that burrito, walked over to the CalTor and opened the door.

Or tried to, anyway.

The door was locked, and I noticed that all the chairs inside were still put away from the night before. On the window, I saw the eatery’s hours: 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.

11 a.m.

That’s a fine hour to open if you serve lunch and dinner. But what’s the point of serving breakfast if you don’t open until after the time folks normally eat it, when they’ve probably already moved on to thinking about lunch?
