random pop culture detritus

  • Apple has a trailer for the new movie version of The Producers. A movie based on a play based on a movie about a play. And it looks hilarious.

  • A few weeks ago, the Coverville podcast featured an astonishingly good cover the Sir Mix-A-Lot song “Baby Got Back,” this time performed in folk-country style by Jonathan Coulton. When I first heard it, I think I stared at my computer in slack-jawed disbelief for a full minute or so (as I’m wont to do with some of the crazy covers that Coverville “broadcasts”). Thanks to a Fishbowl NY, I just found a free MP3 download of the song on Coulton’s site. Worth checking out.

  • Wired’s Leander Kahney has posted some sample pages from his latest book, Cult of iPod. I lovelovelove the cover.
