pardon our dust
This has been floating around for a little while now, but I’m posting it anyway because it’s caused me no end of amusement this week…
The Gap hired director Spike Jonze to produce a TV spot to promote the company’s plans to renovate its stores … but barely used the finished ad. Which is a shame, because it’s brilliant in the anarchic aggression with which customers and employees trash a Gap store. (Slate: “Pants Pants Revolution” - 12/19/05)
There’s another version of the ad up on iFilm with a different, more operatic song in the background. The iFilm one is better, I think, underscoring a sense of chaos rather than “quirky fun.”
Unrelated but also amusing: This recent SNL “rap” about a couple of stoners on their way to a screening of The Chronicles of Narnia.
(Thanks to Rob for the Gap link. Thanks to Dari for the SNL link.)

That SNL video has become quite the meme. It was a free download on iTunes last week, and even the NYT is writing about it.
