mapping the nyc transit strike

The New York Times is using Google Maps to interesting effect in its online coverage of the New York City public transit strike with a commuting guide and reader reports plotted by zip code.

A small credit line under the maps indicate that they were produced by NY-based startup Faneuil Media, which also did a Google Maps-based project about gas prices for Forbes.com. Their site is pretty bare-bones right now, but with the line “We are journalists and we are web developers” on their home page, I’m curious about their story.

(Thanks to Nelson for the link.)
