Driving through Clarendon this afternoon, I noticed that the closed hardware store between the Lazy Sundae and Faccia Luna has a new sign in front of it, announcing that the space will soon be home to … yet another Irish pub. (I think the name was “Ri Ra.”) That makes four Irish pubs in Courthouse/Clarendon area, all along a one-mile stretch of Wilson Blvd.: Ireland’s Four Courts, Kitty O’Shea’s, this new pub and Molly Malone’s.

This is about as absurd as the preponderance of Thai restaurants within one block in Courthouse: Singh Thai on Wilson Blvd., Sawatdee Thai in Courthouse Plaza and the forthcoming Sala Thai in the new Navy League Building.
