organize your life

Rob’s out of town this weekend, so I was left to my own devices when I made an afternoon jaunt to The Container Store — always a dangerous thing.

I love The Container Store. I can spend an inordinate amount of time just wandering the aisles, mentally reconfiguring the contents of my apartment as try to judge whether various products will solve some kind of home organization need. That said, as much as I love the store, sometimes I wonder if many of its wares are just solutions in search of a problem. Is there really a demand for specialty hooks to hang wheelbarrows in the garage? Or for a $3 device to squeeze one’s toothpaste?

Then again, sometimes their wide array of offerings offers a solution to a problem I didn’t even realize I had. While my reason for coming to the store in the first place was to find an orderly solution to the mess under the kitchen sink (organizer procured), I also stumbled upon some heavy-duty hangers to store blankets hanging-up in the closet. I have some extra space in the bedroom closet, and it seemed to make so much more sense to hang them up than to let them continue to take up precious shelf space. So I bought three.
