nytimes.com just launched a pretty massive redesign. Fasciminating.

One completely minor thing that struck me as interesting: I really like their choice of the words “Today’s Paper” (instead of “Print Edition”) to describe the section that archives the contents of the daily newspaper.

As for the rest of the site, I’m still collecting my thoughts…

It reminds me rather strongly of the redesigned LA Times website. Takes longer to load, though.

Wow, maybe I’ve been living under a rock (or in Cambodia), but didn’t CNN change their website AND television design recently? I guess the 2-3 year lifespan has passed? Everyone seems to be finding a new “shirt” these days :). Mine is just sweaty…LOL

Erik: Do you mean the design that latimes.com had before the most recent redesign (about a month ago)? I can definitely see the similarities between the nytimes.com redesign (screenshot) and the earlier latimes.com design (screenshot).

(I didn’t even realize that latimes.com had redesigned again (screenshot) until you mentioned it.)

Kala: Yeah, cnn.com launched a redesigned homepage a couple weeks ago. I do like the new look; I wonder when they’re going to push it through to the articles and section fronts. One nitpick: I wish they’d pick one color for their breaking news alerts and stick with it. I’ve seen them use both red (which they were using in the last design) and orange recently. (screenshot)

And I think CNN International redid their broadcast design not too long ago, too. I’ve only seen glimpses of it through clips on The Daily Show, and I recall being on the fence about whether or not I liked it. You probably see a lot more of it where you are — What are your thoughts?
