the gods have spoken

Rob’s been getting up early all this week for a series of workshops his office is hosting about technology in the classroom. Between the early waking and all the teaching, he’s been pretty tired. So last night, despite our resolve to cook at home more often (and we’ve actually been doing a good job of that lately), the notion of going out to dinner at Sawatdee sounded pretty tempting. But weighing the cost of a dinner out versus the already-thawed tilapia fillets in the refrigerator, we were wavering.

So we left it to chance.

“Look at the time on the clock. If the last digit is even we’ll stay in. If it’s odd we’ll go out,” Rob advised.

Even.

For kicks, we tried flipping a coin. Heads, dine out. Tails, eat in.

Tails. Tails. Heads. Tails. Tails.

With the gods of chance squarely 5-1 in favor of cooking at home, I went into the kitchen and heated up the skillet for sauteed tilapia.
