roadshow

I heard recently that Netflix is sponsoring what sounds like a fun cross-country roadshow, screening movies at the places where they were originally filmed.

If my birthday was on a weekend this year, I’d be all about seeing that Clerks screening at the Quick Stop in New Jersey. (There’s even a post-screening Q&A with director Kevin Smith.) Or, if they were on a weekend, it might also be fun to see Ferris Bueller’s Day Off in Northbrook, Ill., or Field of Dreams at the field in Iowa. And even though it’s in the middle of August, an evening screening of Raising Arizona in the desert outside Apache Junction, Ariz., sounds kinda fun.

There have been so many movies filmed in and around Washington, D.C. Too bad they couldn’t schedule a roadshow stop here (though I wonder if that would somehow conflict with Screen on the Green).

Comments

Hacking Netflix has some coverage of the Netflix Roadshow screening of Clerks, including a Reuters news story and links to attendees’ photos of the event on Flickr.
