rate of return

If you want fast turnaround from Netflix, don’t drop your movie in the mailbox after Thursday afternoon, or you probably won’t get your next movie until the following Tuesday. AJC, a Netflix user on LiveJournal, recently compiled the results of a personal study of Netflix movie returns. He found that he got the fastest turnaround when he dropped off his movies on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursdays before the postal carrier picks up the mail. Returns on Thursday evenings, Fridays and Saturdays meant the longest delays between DVD drop-off and new movie delivery.

All that chart points out is if the postal pickup has already happened for the day, your mail won’t be picked up until the next day. I kinda thought that was obvious.

The real trick to getting movies faster is moving closer to the source, that’s why I’m moving to Rockville, MD!

That’s a great piece of information, especially for us Netflix users comfounded by the whole operation.

Thanks for the link(s)!

Kearns — Yeah, you’re right: Including entries for after postal pickup is a bit obvious. But the rest of the data is interesting, just as a quick reference.

Good luck with the move to Rockville! You’ll be swapping those movies with lightning speed!
