carrying this scrap of paper
I’ve been entranced of late with a new television ad for Liberty Mutual. The “plot” has a Pay It Forward quality about it: Person B witnesses Person A doing a good deed, and goes on to do something nice for someone else, which is witnessed by Person C, who in turn does something nice, and so on.
Normally I might find a premise like this a bit cloying, but here it really works, in large part due to the music.
I have no idea how successful the ad is at selling Liberty Mutual — I remember the company name, but not what services they’re trying to advertise — but what really sucked me in were the Joni Mitchell-like vocals of Sally Ellyson, lead singer of the indie folk band Hem. The song, “Half Acre” (iTunes), is so dreamy-beautiful, I can’t escape it (and don’t know that I want to).

Hello.
I found this whilst doing a search on that selfsame ad trying to find more info, and I agree entirely; I find that particular ad immensely inspiring, and the music is indeed a big part of it. Glad to see I’m not the only one who feels similarly. :}
{Then again, I’ve always been kind of a dreamer with the hope for the betterment of the world :}
