googled hem

Did the Liberty Mutual ad air during the Grey’s Anatomy premiere or something? Because I got about 20 separate visitors to my site within a ten-minute span at about 9:30 this evening, all coming from Google searches like “i am carrying this scrap of paper.” Ah, the power of Google.

To said Googlers, the answer to your question is “Half Acre” by Hem.

I ended up with the Hem/Autumn Defense split CD that this is on last year somehow—maybe it was after reading this pitchfork review from 2004?—but the whole thing is pretty good. It’s worth checking out. Hem’s vocalist, though… her voice is haunting. Autumn Defense is less remarkable, but it ain’t bad.

I wonder how good their new record is? Pitchfork kinda liked it.
