reunions

Poking through the MySpace messageboards for my old high school (what a wonderful way to procrastinate!), I came across some photos from the class of 1996 reunion from earlier this month. There weren’t a whole lot of people I recognized (and most of the photos weren’t captioned), but it was still interesting (and a bit strange) to see what folks look like ten years later. When I did spot someone I recognized, I found myself wishing for little “where are they now…?” bios.

I haven’t heard any details yet, but I’m assuming that my own ten-year reunion will be next October. Ten years … It’s a bit of a freakout that it’s been that long. At the same time, though, high school does feel like a lifetime ago. I honestly don’t know that I feel any real connection to the school or my classmates anymore. I don’t think I’d go to a reunion to “reconnect” with anyone; I’m still in touch with the high school classmates that I was closest to. I think I’ll go to the reunion, whenever it is, but more out of curiosity and obligation (yet another “rite of passage”) than anything else. Plus, it’s another excuse to visit the fam and my Arizona friends — and October’s the best time of year to go!
