district map

housemap_20061208.gifA few weeks back, I wrote about a Flash project that was causing me some consternation. I completed it early last week, and it went live this week.

The project: converting a Post-produced map of all the congressional districts across the United States into something usable (and easily manipulated) in Flash. This necessitated the tedious creation of around 600 movieclips (435 for the districts themselves, plus the districts in each of the expando city views). All the work was definitely worth it, though, as with any luck we’ll be able to repurpose this for more than just displaying U.S. House election results, as this first map does.
