a desert christmas

A hummingbird at the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum

Another year, another lovely Christmas Day in the Arizona desert. Best wishes to everyone for a happy holiday season and a wonderful new year!

The photo above was taken on Saturday at the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum, just west of Tucson. Rob and I arrived at the hummingbird enclosure just as the little guys seemed to be waking up. A docent told us that because of the chill in the air, the hummingbirds tended to sit longer on their branches — which made it that much easier to photograph them.
