food to share
A (dieting) blogger for local food blog DCFUD made a funny observation earlier this week about folks who bring in sweets to share with their coworkers:
You know those people who bring donuts and cakes into the workplace? They secretly hate all their coworkers. They actually wanted a donut themselves, but assuage the guilt by bringing in 11 other sugarbombs to make everybody else fat and lethargic.
I laugh because I’m one of those people, sans the malicious ill-will toward my coworkers. Rob’s not much into sweets, so when I feel like making, say, cookies or candy (or, on one insomniac night, a German chocolate cake (from a mix)), I’m comforted by the knowledge that I can have my one serving and then share the rest with my coworkers, saving myself from temptation from the leftovers.
That, and it’s kind of a fun social experiment to leave food out in the kitchen by the newsroom and see just how long it takes to disappear. After giving my team first dibs, I’ll drop off the food in the kitchen, returning at the end of the day to retrieve my plate. So far, I’ve noticed that blueberry muffins tend to disappear the fastest.

You’re so evil! I love/hate when my co-workers bring in food. It’s so hard to resist. :)
