this american life

I’m a big fan of the radio program This American Life, and when I heard it was going to become a television series on Showtime, I was a bit wary. But between the trailer and this four-minute excerpt from the show (with animation by Chris Ware!), I’m nearly convinced:

(If you can’t view the video, it’s available at Slate.)

It didn’t take a lot of convincing to get me to like this particular story because I’m already a fan of Chris Ware’s work. In fact, he’s worked with This American Life before, most notably on the wonderful “Lost Buildings” road show / DVD about two friends and their shared obsession with Chicago architecture.

Now I’m just hoping that they make the show available on iTunes, because I really can’t justify subscribing to Showtime. Or maybe I should just wait for the Season One DVD to come around.
