puzzle fighter
At dinner with friends last week, the conversation turned to the video games we played in college (I believe a Street Fighter throwdown was proposed). The conversation reminded me of another game I played in the arcade at ASU: Super Puzzle Fighter II. The game can be best summed up as “Baby Street Fighter meets Tetris,” and it’s totally addictive. After Rob and I got home, I dug up my ancient PC copy of the game (so ancient, I had to jump through some hoops just to get my computer to run it) and played for … longer than I care to admit. My favorite character since college: Felicia, a “catgirl” not too far off from “alykat.”

Another, similar game that’s just about as addictive: SameGame, which came with our TiVo. The game itself has been around since the mid-80s, apparently. If I’d come across the port of the game that was available for graphing calculators, I would have gotten a lot less done in high school. (It was bad enough I had Tetris on my graphing calculator. Yes, I was a big nerd in high school. And apparently I still am.) I recently came across a Flash-based version of the game (for an extra challenge, try the hexagon version).
