glen echo park

A couple weekends ago, Rob and I finally checked out Glen Echo Park, this fantastic arts / music site (and former theme park) with some awesome examples of early-to-mid-1900s architecture and signage. This is a place that’s just made for photos.

Located at the end of a trolley line, Glen Echo Park was a close-in entertainment destination for Washingtonians from around 1900 until 1968. Today, it plays host to a number of arts programs and regular music / dancing events in its Spanish Ballroom and Bumper Car Pavilion. (When we were planning our wedding, I tried to contact them about renting out the Spanish Ballroom for our event, but no one ever got back to me.)

It was a wonderful evening — nice and cool, with no crowds to fight against. There was a square dancing event going on in the Bumper Car Pavilion with an impressively good band. The music seemed to follow us as we walked around the park, and it provided a fitting soundtrack to our wanderings.
