spider-pig

I was iffy about the Simpsons movie … until I saw this bit in the most recent trailer:

(If you can’t see the video above, it’s available on YouTube.)

I can’t explain it, but I can’t stop giggling. The best part, as Rob pointed out, is the way the pig’s feet walk across the ceiling, stopping and starting in time to Homer’s lyrics.

On a related note (and I realize that this particular meme probably sailed on about a month ago), but the Web site for the Simpsons movie has a fun “create yourself as a Simpsons character” tool. Here’s mine.

Updated July 30 at 4:06 p.m. - I keep getting hits from Google from people looking for lyrics to the Spider-Pig song. So to answer your query, here they are:

Spider-Pig, Spider-Pig
Does whatever a Spider-Pig does
Can he swing from a web?
No, he can’t: He’s a pig
Look out…
He is a Spider-Pig!

I went through the exact same steps when coming to terms with the Simpsons movie. Mild amusement, general apathy, then, SPIDERPIG. Mele is very tired of the spiderpig song by now.

because people around me kept singing the song a la homer, i got pretty tired of it until i heard the full choral version of it. that one i like. =)

i actually saw the movie—just this past weekend. it doesn’t live up to the brilliance of the show (expectation of movie v expectation of tv and all), but the scene where homer is having an out-of-body experience to learn about himself with the choral version of spider pig as music background made the entire movie worth it. and the original scene, of course, but aly shows that’s easily found on youtube:)
