design nerdity at the movies
Design blogger swissmiss pointed out earlier this week that someone took the intro and closing credits from the movie Stranger Than Fiction and posted them to YouTube. I adored all the little infographics that popped up during the introduction of that movie. (There are some higher-quality videos and alternate takes at the Web site of MK12, the firm that did the graphics.)
Watching that video reminded me of another of my all-time favorite design moments in film: the scene in Fight Club where Edward Norton’s empty apartment is transformed IKEA-style.
(And while I’m gushing over fun movie graphics, I feel compelled to mention (again), the wonderful opening credits for the movie Thank You for Smoking.)

THIS IS THE BEST POST EVER. While I despised Stranger Than Fiction, I instantly thought of my favorite Fight Club scene as well.
Another David Fincher movie with great opening credits is Panic Room.

Another David Fincher movie with amazing in-picture design is Zodiac (which is relatively tame, violence-wise, and has a crazy newsroom/newspaper visual mashup).
Another David Fincher movie with great credits, opening and closing, is Seven:

…
There are two other David Fincher movies, one is about a game, and one is about an alien, but I cannot presently recall their names.
So I guess what you’re saying is that if I want to see awesome movie graphics, David Fincher’s my man. ;)
Thanks for the links!
