chicago 2016

Chicago has unveiled a new logo for its bid to host the 2016 Olympics:

Chicago 2016 Olympics logos

The original logo had to be scrapped because it violated the International Olympic Committee’s rules against bid cities’ logos including Olympic-related imagery, such as the rings or a torch. It’s a pity, because I really liked the original torch logo — clean, classy and unmistakably Chicago. I don’t dislike the new logo — it’s certainly no London 2012, thank goodness — but it doesn’t wow me like the original did. (But that’s just me.)

The Chicago Tribune had a story about the unveiling.

(Thanks to Rob for the heads-up.)

Comments

Eh. I certainly agree. I believe that if their bid wins, they’ll revert back to the old logo.
