Yesterday morning, I met up with my sister in Phoenix for a girls’ morning out, which started with a mini-hike through Papago Park to the rather literally-named Hole in the Rock. We took drinks up with us and sat in the crook of the rock while we chatted and enjoyed the view.

We followed that up with a jaunt to Tempe Beach Park, where we happened on a big Oktoberfest shindig. In addition to sampling the bratwurst, we decided to be goofy and have a caricature of ourselves done. The result was … rather funny.

Then we went into pampering mode, heading to a nail salon for pedicures and, at Ashley’s urging, to a hair salon for me.

After all that, we joined up with my mom and her coworker Margaret for a raucous lunch of margaritas and salads at Z-Tejas. In all, quite a day.
