empty your pockets

Contents of My Winter Coat Pockets (Nov. 2007)

The temperature has turned decidedly colder here of late, which has necessitated bringing my winter coat out of hibernation. One cool thing about reviving the the winter coat is that inevitably I find stuff in the pockets from the previous season — kind of like a short-term time capsule.

This time around, two of the “mementos” date from my February 2007 trip to New York City, when I got to sit in the audience of The Daily Show. The little sticker is from Darkness at Noon, a book I bought at Strand. And the MetroCard was my farecard for the subway.

The card for the Seattle restaurant Wild Ginger was a holdover from the previous winter. I picked it up back in February 2006 when I was in town for the Flash Forward conference. (I had an enjoyable dinner there, incidentally.)

As for the other two items, I’m not entirely sure when or where I picked them up. From the looks of the Advil package, at least, I’ve probably been carrying them around for some time.
