montana and south dakota primary results
Tonight marks the end of primary season, with elections in Montana (Democrats), New Mexico (Republicans) and South Dakota (Democrats and Republicans).
It’s been a long road since the Iowa caucuses kicked things off five months ago.
Tonight, we’ll have county-by-county results maps for the Montana and South Dakota contests:
The bigger story tonight is whether Barack Obama will win enough delegates to clinch the Democratic Party nomination and how Hillary Clinton and her campaign will respond. As I write this, the Associated Press delegate tally shows that Obama needs 25 delegates to reach the 2,118 “magic number,” while Clinton needs 202.
The current delegate vote tally (updated automatically):

(It’s probably worth adding the caveat that all of these delegate numbers are estimates. Nothing is official — for the Democrats or the Republicans — until the party conventions in August and September. Hence the oft-uttered phrase “presumptive nominee” with respect to John McCain.)
