colorado / utah road trip
For the past week, Rob and I have been road tripping through Colorado and Utah. Our itinerary:
- June 10: Arrive in Denver, Colo. Rent a car and drive to Moab, Utah, stopping off at interesting viewpoints along the way.
- June 11: Explore Arches National Park and Dead Horse Point State Park.
- June 12: Spend a little more time in Arches, then head back to Denver (with a side-jaunt to Fisher Towers Recreation Area en route).
- June 13: Surprise birthday party for our friend Pamela in Estes Park at the Stanley Hotel (inspiration for The Shining).
- June 14: Drive down to Pagosa Springs, Colo., to visit my grandparents (and parents, who were also in town visiting). Side-trip to explore the Air Force Academy campus in Colorado Springs.
- June 15: Spend time with the family, including a Father’s Day hike to Opal Lake.
- June 16: Drive back to Denver, with a side-trip to Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve.
- June 17: Chill out a bit — and perhaps explore downtown Denver — and head back home.
It’s been exciting to get out of our element and do a little “adventuring.” We’ve seen some amazing things this trip and spent time with some great people. I’ll be posting photos as I process them.
