aimee mann and the submarines

Aimee Mann

Last weekend, Rob and I saw Aimee Mann, with opening act The Submarines, at the 9:30 Club. Mann is touring in support of her new album @#%&*! Smilers, while The Submarines’ track “You, Me and the Bourgeoisie” is, perhaps fittingly, the background music in the latest iPhone commercial.

It was a good show all around. The Submarines were fun and indie-poppy (though the lead singer was far too chipper and giggly for an Aimee Mann concert). And Mann always puts on a good show, especially when she has the full band behind her.
