convention fever

I’m not in Denver for the Democratic National Convention, but a good number of my colleagues are. In the video below, Jill Bartscht of the Washington Post gives a tour of the Post workspace and the Pepsi Center where the convention is being held.

In addition to being a home base for the Post’s operations at the conventions, the workspace hosts the set for our nightly live webcasts (4-6 p.m. and 7-11 p.m. ET). I designed the seven 3’ x 6’ banners that appear behind the webcast set, as well as a number of on-screen graphics (including the lower-third chyron that identifies the person onscreen). The convention webcast project has been in the works for some time (there’s a large contingent of people who have had a part in putting this together), and seeing this behind-the-scenes video really drove home that it’s all finally coming together.
