Harpers Ferry Bridge

For Valentine's Day last month, Rob and I reserved a Mini Cooper for the day through Zipcar and hit the road.

The Mini Cooper was a lot of fun to drive on this trip -- almost too fun, as it was very easy to speed and not realize it.

After a light brunch near home, we headed out to Harpers Ferry, W.Va. Thanks to the peculiarities of geography, the drive took us through parts of Virginia, Maryland, back to Virginia (very briefly), and finally to West Virginia. We had only a few hours to explore the area, so instead of hiking, we wandered through the historic town of Harpers Ferry and across the pedestrian footbridge (with adjoining railroad tracks).

Afterward, we headed to Frederick, Md., for dinner at Cacique, and then on to Silver Spring, Md., to the AFI Silver Theatre, for a special screening of one of our favorite movies, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.

Glad to hear my local hood was included in your road trip. I hope Cacique treated you well. They are usually pretty good.
