RSS ("Really Simple Syndication") is an easy way to keep up with the latest updates your favorite sites, or syndicate headlines from one Web site on another site. Using an RSS reader, you can subscribe to the feeds of as many sites as you like. The reader software will automatically check those feeds at a set interval and download new headlines/entries (depending on the settings of each individual site). This way, you can keep up with all your favorite sites in one place and at one time, without having to navigate to each site separately. Learn more about RSS.

My favorite RSS reader is NetNewsWire (Mac). I've also heard good things about NewsFire (also Mac). The Firefox browser offers built-in RSS support as "live bookmarks," but its implementation isn't as good as it could be.
